Llynn’ Newman’s Health & Wellness News Letter Fall 2024
Hello Everybody! Sending you well wishes for a Happy, Healthy Fall Equinox for All!
We are all adjusting to a drop in temperature. So you really need to pay attention to balancing your foods, warmth with nourishment, clothes, dressing, having an extra sweater and scarf, etc., and sleep and rest/off time.
This cool snap stresses us and our immune system. So you should be adding and increasing your Elderberry Extract, daily 1 ½ to 1 teaspoon (Nature’s Answer is my favorite company – no alcohol, no sugar). Remember this has anti-viral and anti-bacterial and anti-oxidant properties. You can add this to your water any time, or add it to a water bottle on the go, or add it to hot water at night for a soothing, nourishing tea. You could also add it to another tea of choice (caffeine free of course).
Some other things to be especially mindful of is learning from the animals! At this time especially with the hurricane Sandy anniversary is to stock up now on all necessary items to hold you for a few weeks at least. This way you don’t have to deal with people panicking or out of stock empty shelves, no water, etc., etc. Fill your cabinets, freezers, and fridge. Always store plenty of water, nut butters (i.e. almond butter, peanut butter, crackers, nuts, dried fruits, figs (Organic Cal Myrna and Turkish are the best), protein – beans, canned tuna, sardines, soups (even if you can’t cook, you can have room temperature for nourishment). Plus of course, lanterns and LED flashlights, lots of extra batteries, candles, matches, and battery tea lights and candles, etc., etc. Be prepared and safe vs. regrets incase of another storm or outage, okay!
Now with the cooler weather we can start to enjoy more teas and healthy carbs, whole grains, the baked garnet yams or boiled are wonderful for now and through the winter. If you notice your taste for various fruits and salads are changing, that is fine. Try the organic apples and pears, dark grapes, and make sure you are cooking or noshing on your veggies to keep all those wonderful nutrients in your body. Enjoy the change of season and savor this time of fresh air, beautifully colored trees, leaves, and sunsets…..
Remember to allow yourself to have some real “me time” every week (no dead-lines, no “have too’s”, no clocks) just listen to your body and hear yourself think. Relax at home, or get out in nature to a park or beach. Okay!
Also for those with some aches and stiffness with this weather shift, stay on top of your vitamin C complex, cap or liquid 3 times a day, essential oil Omega 3, 3 times a day (away from blood thinners), glucosamine, chondroitin, and msm with joints. Tumeric and ginger, one or both, one to three times a day usually works great with pain, inflammation, etc. Do not take at the same time as pain meds or anti-inflammatories.
Remember this is an important time to get in to see me to fine-tune or build our immune systems for the season. Take care and enjoy this beautiful season and look forward to a Wonderful Thanksgiving (what ever you do or don’t do) with gratitude of all the blessing in our lives. Keep it simple and take one day at a time.
